Review: Illum Forever Young Face Serum

* Gifted, but my views are my own

I’m always looking for ways to hang on to my youth as long as possible, especially when it comes to my skin. So when I got the chance to review Illum Forever Young Face Serum, I wasn’t going to say no.

Dubbed the ‘ultimate time machine in a bottle!’, would it really mean I’d have the joy of being ID’d again when I bought a drink? Read on to find out.

The formula features a 'magical' fusion of natural oils, including Rosehip Oil and Pomegranate Seed Oil, which contain Vitamin A (Retinol) and Punicic acid, ingredients known for their powerful anti-aging properties. With regular use, the makers claim the formula can take years off your appearance, boosting collagen and elasticity production for skin cell regeneration and deep hydration.

If being over 40 wasn't enough, my work schedule recently has been pretty hectic. Early mornings and late nights, long days, and the Great British weather hasn’t helped my skin. Fluctuating between freezing cold and boiling hot, this little bottle had its work cut out.

I used it daily, morning and evening after cleansing. The lid has an easy to use dropper built in - handy for getting out just the right amount of serum that you need. And you don’t need a lot. A few drops is enough to cover your whole face.

It has quite a thick consistency, but light weight, which I like. It feels quality, and glides on, but is easily absorbed into your skin as you massage it in.

I always leave a couple of minutes between moisturising and applying my makeup anyway to allow the moisture to really sink in and do it's thing, but when touching my face after applying, it doesn't feel tacky once on, as some serums can. It just leaves your skin feeling soft, but forms the perfect base for my makeup.

As I touched upon before, a little goes a long way, so I’ve been using my bottle (retailing at £17.99), for a good few months, and will continue to do so, as it has become an essential part of my beauty routine. Does my skin look and feel better? Potentially, yes. It definitely feels more hydrated and nourished than it has done for a long time. Rome wasn’t built in a day, so I think with continued usage I will see further improvement.
