Lightpost Farm Christmas Light Trail Review

There’s something about Christmas lights that instantly transport me back to childhood.
Back then outdoor lights were a rarity rather than a norm. My brother would take me on our annual pilgrimage to see the one conifer on the estate that had been adorned with lights, and we'd marvel at its magic. A magic, which can only be found at Christmas time, and one which Gloworm presents Light Post Farm at White Post Farm has achieved.

I visited on a chilly November evening and, from the moment I stepped through the entrance, it felt like the farm had been quietly sprinkled with fairy dust. The familiar setting of White Post Farm is still there - animal pens, winding paths, ponds and play areas, but after dark it transforms into a glowing, walk-through storybook of colour and light.
The 1km illuminated trail winds around the farm, taking you past tunnels of twinkling lights, colour-changing trees, sparkling features and a few wow-moments that are clearly designed for photos (in the best possible way).
One of my favourites was the light maze, there are also glowing installations reflected in the water, and plenty of corners where you just want to stop, breathe, and take it all in.
Festive Atmosphere for All Ages At Lightpost Farm
What I really loved was the pace. I went alone, and was free to wander at my own speed, doubling back if something caught my eye. There were couples wrapped up in scarves and each other, families guiding excited little ones along the paths, and groups of friends laughing their way through the maze. Even on my own, I never felt out of place, just part of a wider crowd all enjoying the same bit of magic.

Because this is White Post Farm, it isn’t just about the lights either. Admission to Light Post Farm includes access to the indoor barn, which is ideal if you need to warm up or fancy a quick break from the cold. And with lambs expected in early December, there’s a good chance of a heart-melting baby animal moment too.
Food, Warmth, and Winter Comforts at Lightpost Farm
No festive evening is complete without something warm in a cup, and theres chance to grab a hot chocolate or treat along the way. On a cold night, hands wrapped around a steaming drink while fairy lights glitter overhead felt like exactly the kind of simple joy this time of year is meant for. There is also a festive menu available at the cafe, as well as the opportunity to toast your own marshmallows.
If you’re thinking of going: wrap up warm (hat and gloves are your best friends), wear sensible shoes, and charge your phone – you’ll want to take lots of photos. Whether you’re taking children, going with friends, or, like me, just leaning fully into your “big kid at Christmas” era, Light Post Farm is a gorgeous way to kick off the festive season in Nottinghamshire.
