Review: After Dark at Cattows Halloween Farm Leicestershire

Halloween has changed a lot since I was a kid. Outfits made from an old sheet were pretty much the norm back then. Fast forward a few decades and it’s a pretty big deal now. And I for one am here for it!

If you know me, you’ll know I love Spooky, so when I was asked if I would like to visit After Dark at Cattows Farm in Leicestershire, of course, I said yes.

I have been to Cattows Halloween Farm before during the day. In fact, I’ve worked on their Trick or Treat Street, so I’ve seen it from both sides. So let’s begin then by saying that if you’ve never been and you love Halloween then you definitely need to go - Day or evening.

The event gets bigger and better each year. 2022 is no exception as the illuminations trail has been added, plus the circus. On the whole, the event is suitable for all the family.

I say that because the circus should probably come with a "Don’t try this at home" warning. Mind-blowing acrobats balance at great heights, there’s a fire eater and sword swallower, a clown with a bed of nails, and the breathtaking world-famous Motorbike stunt shows that even had me holding my breath as they flew through the air.

The After Dark experience is from 6 pm. I’d recommend going as close to six as you can to get the most from your evening, as there are lots to see and do.

My first stop was typically for a Baileys Hot chocolate (which I should add was delicious) before we made our way into the circus. The food village has a number of stalls to choose from including pizza, burgers and chips, doughnuts and a bar.

Of course, no Halloween farm would be complete without pumpkins. Experience picking your own pumpkin under the night sky! There are your traditional pumpkins as well as the weird and wonderful funky pumpkins too. We didn’t get time to do this, but what a great idea.

HALLOWEEN FUN FAIR

I love the vibe of a fun fair at night with all the sites and sounds. This one is no exception, complete with rides, games and traditional fairground treats! Oh, and of course, there’s a ghost train.

HALLOWEEN LIGHT TRAIL

There was a bit of a queue for the light trail as it seemed everyone came out of the circus and headed straight to it. Once in however you could space out and wander the lit-up paths of the corn maze, which lead to custom-made Halloween structures. There’s even a nod to Stranger Things.

If you fancy going, and why wouldn't you, its awesome fun, wrap up warm and check out the info below.

Love Tx
