You know you’re not in your twenties anymore when the idea of being in bed by 10pm sounds more appealing than being in the queue for a nightclub.

Yet somehow, Day Fever has managed to make us all feel twenty-something again, without the aching feet, or regretful kebab at midnight.

If you haven’t heard of it yet, it’s the clubbing movement founded by Vicky McClure, Jonny Owen, Jon and Chris McClure, and James O’Hara that’s taking the UK by storm. The idea is beautifully simple- dance, laugh, and party hard, all before bedtime. No drama, no egos, and no 2 a.m. taxi queue.

From the moment we stepped inside Rock City, it felt like the clock had rewound. The dance floor was packed with people having fun.

Vicky McClure, Nottingham’s very own queen of cool burst onto the stage, all smiles, and unstoppable energy.

Clips of 80s films and TV shows flicker on the big screens, and the soundtrack was nothing short of iconic. From Northern Soul and disco classics to 80s and 90s bangers, sounding as good as ever. The only thing that had changed was the price of beer, and maybe a few more lines on our faces.

The vibe is a bit reminiscent of The Hitman and Her - remember that? Club hosts, crowd up on stage, everyone just dancing like it’s the most normal thing in the world, a little bit festival afterparty, and a whole lot of nostalgia.

Friends danced together, strangers became besties by the bar. It reminds you that joy isn’t an age thing - it’s an attitude.

And if you missed it, don’t panic. Day Fever isn’t slowing down. They’ve just announced more UK dates through autumn, including Rock City Nottingham on 15 November 2025, before the ultimate festive spin-off: Sleigh Day Fever, launching in December. Expect Santa hats, sparkle, and a full dose of “all-killer-no-filler” party tunes.

So, if you ever thought your clubbing days were behind you, think again. Because life’s too short to save dancing for after dark.
