Let’s be honest—losing weight isn’t all green smoothies and gym selfies.
Some days, I’m feeling amazing, smashing my steps and fueling my body with all the right things. Other days? Well… let’s just say a bottle of wine and a bar of chocolate still have a starring role. And that’s ok.
I’m not here for diet culture nonsense or unrealistic expectations. I’m here to keep it real, and if you’re on a weight loss journey (or just trying to live a little healthier), you probably get it. This isn’t about perfection—it’s about balance, sustainability, and finding what works for you.
Why I’m on This Weight-Loss Journey
If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know that my weight has fluctuated. After going through cancer twice and being on hormone therapy to stop the cancer coming back, my body changed, cancer really is the unwanted gift that keeps giving. On top of that, I fully embraced the "Life’s too short—eat the chocolate" mentality. And honestly? I don’t regret a single moment of that.
But now, having just turned 50, I’m at a place where I want to feel stronger, healthier, and more in control of my body again. That doesn’t mean depriving myself—it means making smarter choices that fit into my life. And for that, I’ve got some help…

How I’m Making It Work
So, how am I balancing healthy changes without feeling too much like I’m on a “diet”? Here’s what’s working for me:
1. More Steps, Less Stress
I’m moving more, but not in an obsessive way. No, I’m not running marathons (I’d rather run away from one), but I’m getting more steps in daily—walking instead of driving short distances, parking further away, and just making movement a natural part of my day. I'm happy, the dogs happy.
2. Smarter Swaps, Not Boring Meals
I’m all about finding balance—choosing high-protein, low carb meals that still feel satisfying. It’s not about cutting things out; it’s about adjusting portions and making tweaks that fit within my calorie goals.
3. Enjoying the Journey (and the Chocolate)
I refuse to label food as "good" or "bad." If I want chocolate, I’ll have it—but I’ll be mindful of how it fits into my daily calories. Some days, I’ll have a protein-packed meal, and other days, I’ll have a takeaway. That’s life.
Keep It Real & Make It Yours
Weight loss doesn’t have to be a miserable, all-or-nothing experience. You can enjoy food, live your life, and still make progress. It’s about finding what works for you—whether that’s walking more, working with a coach, or just making healthier swaps where you can.
