My Perfect Autumn Night In

It's almost Autumn, and to me, it's the perfect time to start thinking about those cosy nights in.

Whether it's catching up on a box set or watching a film, there's nothing like snuggling up on the sofa in front of the TV. I've had my faithful Panasonic for some years but I really want to upgrade to a HDR Panasonic set soon.

At this time of year I'm glued to Bake Off and Strictly Come Dancing, so you'll probably find me curled up on the sofa in front of those,  though there's also something about the darker nights that make me want to stick on one of my old favourite films, Pretty Woman or Dirty Dancing.  What girl doesn't love a fairy tale?

My perfect night starts with cuddles from my dog. Often I work from home, but if I've been out he's always so pleased to see me when I get home.  I'll change into something casual then after a quick walk, on a lovely crisp Autumn night I love to run a lovely warm bath to unwind. Throw in a Lush bath bomb or bubble bar and soak. There's no such thing as a quick bath where I'm concerned. I'll take off my make up, do a full body exfoliation, then cover myself in a lovely smelling body cream

Then it's on with the PJ's and slipper socks (sexy, I know) and relax.  Comfort food is fantastic isn't it? and at this time of year it's the perfect time to indulge.  My Partner is a fantastic cook and you can't beat coming home to a pot of warming stew simmering away on the hob and an apple crumble in the oven, filling the house with that wonderful baked apple and cinnamon aroma.

Don't forget the thick custard! Oh and wine.  For me it has to be red and it has to be Shiraz.

I make sure my sofa has plenty of snugly cushions.  I have a selection fromPrimark, George  and Wilkos at the moment, plus a nice thick, cosy throw which we'll all end up under (again from Primark).

Candles are essential.  At the moment I have a Fireside Treats candle fromYankee Candle.  I don't have a fireplace in the lounge but Woodwick do a hearthwick candle which crackles like a fire as it burns, which is as close as I can get to the real thing.  If I'm wanting to be really cosy, you can't beat a string of twinkling fairy lights too.

Sweet and savoury treats are essential, especially during a movie. Salty popcorn and, of course, chocolate. My current favourites are the new Malteser buttons.  I'm addicted to them!

Finally, one of my other favourite things about the colder nights has to be a steaming hot chocolate.  A large mug or tall glass is perfect.  Leave a little room at the top for squirty cream, and marshmallows and perhaps a sprinkling of chocolate, and then it's off to bed.

What would be your perfect night in?

T xx
