Nottingham's food scene has welcomed another big name, and judging by the launch evening, The Beefy Boys are set to become a popular addition to the city centre.
I was kindly invited along to the launch event to experience what all the hype is about, and from the moment I walked through the doors, it was clear this wasn't just another burger restaurant opening.

Guests were welcomed with a glass of Prosecco before getting the chance to sample some of the menu while enjoying a lively atmosphere, complete with a DJ set from The Beefy Boys themselves.

From Backyard BBQ to Award-Winning Brand
If you've never heard of The Beefy Boys before, their story is almost as impressive as their burgers.
The business began in Hereford in 2011 when four friends entered a local barbecue competition. What started as a passion project quickly grew into one of the UK's best-known independent burger brands, earning national recognition after winning the National Burger Awards and achieving success at the World Food Championships. Nottingham is now their sixth restaurant and their most northerly location to date. Their signature burgers are made using 100% grass-fed, dry-aged Herefordshire beef, and they've built a loyal following across the country.
First Impressions

The Nottingham restaurant has a relaxed, industrial feel with plenty of seating over 2 floors, exposed brickwork and an liely atmosphere that suits the brand perfectly.
Despite being a launch evening with plenty of invited guests, the team remained welcoming and enthusiastic, creating a friendly atmosphere.

One feature I particularly liked was the open kitchen, where diners can watch the chefs preparing the food. It adds to the atmosphere and gives you confidence that everything is being cooked fresh to order. It's always nice to see the energy and teamwork that goes into creating each meal.
The Food

Our evening started with the Mac & Cheese Balls, which were crispy on the outside with a rich, creamy centre and a great way to begin the tasting.
We also sampled the chicken tenders, which were slighty crispy on the outside while remaining tender and juicy inside. Served with a sauce, they were the kind of starter that's ideal for sharing - although you might not want to!

The main event, of course, was the burger.
The Beefy Boys have built their reputation on burgers that are unapologetically indulgent, and it's easy to understand why. The beef was juicy, the ingredients tasted fresh and every element worked together without feeling over-complicated.
Alongside the burger, I also tried two of their thick milkshakes and a refreshing non-alcoholic mojito, both of which complemented the meal perfectly.
The portions are generous, and this is definitely somewhere you arrive hungry.
More Than Just Great Burgers
One thing that stood out throughout the evening wasn't just the food, but the personality behind the brand.
Having the founders chatting with guests and even taking to the DJ decks helped create a launch that felt genuinely celebratory rather than overly corporate. It reflected the friendly, down-to-earth image The Beefy Boys have built over the years.
Nottingham has no shortage of burger restaurants, but The Beefy Boys bring something a little different.
Their award-winning reputation certainly raises expectations, but based on my first visit, they deliver on both quality and atmosphere. Whether you're a serious burger enthusiast or simply looking for somewhere relaxed to eat with friends, this latest addition to Queen Street is well worth adding to your list.
I'll certainly be back to explore more of the menu.
