Food & Drink: The sky's the limit for beautiful Alto

...and that was just the blokes.

The beautiful people of Nottingham gathered along with two Love Island contestants to toast the latest venture of Nottingham's own Carl Froch, Alto.

Retired super middleweight Carl, who co-owns the bar with partners, leisure heavyweights John Glover and Marc Brough, was a true gent and happily posed for pics with Islanders Sam Bird and Chris Hughes,  for guests who were invited to the glam VIP event ahead of the official launch night.

The venue, which used to be Saltwater, is located in Nottingham's Corner House complex, you know, the one which enjoys spectacular views over the city.

Give the bloke credit, he's made a cracking job of the place.  A man after my own heart it seems when it comes to interior design, the new decor is white with shades of ivory, contemporary and minimalist.  Chromes and mirrors bring it bang on trend and the ladies loos have hair straighteners in them.  What's not to love?

Carl has had experience of renovation after running a property business for many years and his experience in overhauls and design has clearly paid off at looking around the 720 capacity venue.

Guests were treated to a glass of fizz on arrival and then the four bars were put to the test as the packed venue queued for drinks.

The booths are still there from Rocket, albeit more stylish, teamed with sofas. The outdoor space is the real talking point.  Alto means high up in Italian and it sure is.  I couldn't get a seat on the night but on a normal night you can choose from loungers to hammocks to take in the sights of the city.

Prior to the launch, in a brilliant PR campaign, many guests were sent cocktail making kits to try their own smoking Alto themed cocktail at home.

As well as Cocktails the bar, which officially opened to the public on Friday 3rd August, stocks wine, beers and spirits.  Food is tapas style - bruschetta, calamari, olives and antipasti.

I'll be back to pick up some style ideas if nothing else and of course sample a few cocktails in what has to be the most stylish venue in Nottingham.

Love T xx
