Health should always be our priority in all stages of life.

It is incredibly important that we look after our body and mind during our adult years to help us live the happiest and healthiest life we can later on.

Here are some of my hacks and handy tips you can use to stay healthy all year long.

1.Posture

The first simple hack which will actually make a bigger impact on your health than you think is posture. Your posture is something you will always want to look after throughout the years, and this means no more slouching at your desk or sitting on the sofa for hours on end with a crick in your neck. Make sure you stand up and sit up straight, and this will not only help your back, but also your centre of gravity and balance. Posture can make a huge difference to aches and pains and help you manage these effortlessly.

2. Get moving

The best thing you can do to stay healthy is to get moving. Our bodies need to move in order to burn calories and maintain a healthy weight. If you want to have strong lean muscles and a healthy body, you should try and exercise for 30 minutes a day whether it be swimming, sport, yoga or walking. Any movement is good movement and this can help you stay healthy.

3.Moderation

Heard the saying 'Everything in moderation' ? When you are trying to stay healthy and fit, it is important to learn about moderation and how to enjoy yourself without going too far. I gained weight after recovering from cancer because I went through the 'Sod it life is too short - have the pudding' feeling and lets face it, life would be no fun if you couldn’t enjoy junk food now and again, but when you do enjoy junk food, just make sure it isn't all the time. Find a balance for treats and good behaviour and this can make a huge impact on your day and ultimately your overall health.

4. Be smart with birth control

Birth control for a woman is one of the most crucial things to think about. Unfortunately there are not many options for men, so it is down to women to take one for the team. When selecting birth control it is important to ask for advice and help from people you know as well as professionals, and consider your lifestyle. If you think you are likely to forget to take a pill each day, a long term option might work better for you. The last thing a woman wants to go through is the worry and decison of abortion procedure

5. Relax

It is important to head outside, stand still and literally smell the roses. We often don’t make enough of an effort to stop relax and this results in stress and illnesses. Make sure that you are able to relax and enjoy your life. Try relaxation techniques such as yoga or mindfulness.

6. Wake up to lemon water

Something I always used to do and got out of the habit of which I need to start again is starting the day with a glass of lemon water. Lemon is full of vitamins and minerals to start our day on a good note, and water will help flush out toxins. Kickstarting your day this way is amazing and it will help you maintain a healthy body and mind.

What are your tips for a healthy lifestyle?
